This home away from home features 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a custom kitchen with a Jenn Air range, large windows, a dining area that will accommodate 9 and an open floor plan. Great room boasts lots of bright windows, an inviting couch that makes you curl up and feel good inside and a flat screen TV that allows you to stay connected to the world (if you choose to).

The second story holds all of the soft places to land, after an exciting day of adventures. The first rustic bedroom has a king size bed, while the second is fit for a queen. The third bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. One is a twin/twin and the other is a twin/queen. This house will accommodate a couple of families, or 3 couples who want to spend time together, but still need their own private space.

This home is located in the Ponderosa neighborhood. There is a neighborhood playground, walking trails and a sledding hill in the winter, just a short walk away. The Plain Hardware store and Plain Grocery is just 3 minutes away. Downtown Leavenworth is just 13 miles away.

LIVING ROOM:
The stunning living room has 20 foot cathedral ceilings, gas log stone fireplace, beautiful tapestry, luxurious comfortable couches & chairs, elegant furnishings and flat screen TV with built-in DVD/VCR for easy use. There’s even an extensive video library for your entertainment. Just beyond is the kitchen, laundry area, half bath and sunroom.

KITCHEN:
The classy gourmet kitchen has tile counters, an island prep area with eating bar and bar stools for lookers-on, wood flooring and new appliances including a gas range/oven. (Don’t you just love cooking with gas!) This cook’s kitchen is set up with everything you need for preparing meals at home. Conveniently located at the south edge of Asheville NC & 1 mile from Interstate 26, Exit 40, our romantic cedar chalet is tucked away in a cluster of cabins and adjoins 33 acres of woodlands right outside your back door. This quiet woodlands area is ideally located between Asheville and Hendersonville with only 15 minutes to either downtown.

LIVING ROOM:
A cheerful gas log fireplace in a soaring 20 foot wall with a lovely oil painting above greets you as you enter your front door. The luxurious, very comfortable couches and rich marble tables are quietly elegant and a perfect nest to watch your flat screen 37″ HDTV with simple-to-use built-in DVD. Choose from our large movie library or watch cable TV. Better yet, it’s the ideal spot to just peacefully sit and unwind in front of the fire.

Central air conditioning makes summers cool although seldom needed in these Blue Ridge Mountains. Just past the living room is the eat-in kitchen, pretty powder room and laundry area.

For the fun of it, we’ve provided a vintage 1948 Scrabble board with 100 wooden tiles, a 1961 Monopoly game, a 1974 Easy Money game plus games such as chess, checkers, playing cards, Yahtzee, etc. In addition, we have a small selection of enjoyable paperback novels.

In warmer months Smoky View Cabin is ideal for those who want to white water raft – Smoky View Cabin is just minutes away from the Nantahala Outdoor Center and is also close to the Nantahala Village. The kitchen is fully equipped and the table seats six. The master bedroom has a Queen bed, and the second bedroom has a pair of Twin beds. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room and also a rollaway bed to accommodate larger parties.

The cordial glow of logs and the natural ambiance the stone & iron gas stove provide will make the Smoky View Cabin feel like you’ve gone over the river and through the woods to the classic cabin of your dreams.

The dazzling mountain view can be enjoyed on the front deck or from the comfort of the porch swing on the screened porch. The hot tub is waiting year round for you to relax and enjoy the mountain vista through sunrise, sunset, or starry nights. The picnic table is great for dinners al fresco.

Smoky View Cabin is moments away from the Nantahala Village with a day spa, horseback riding, restaurant and bar. The Nantahala River is also just minutes away where you can enjoy white water rafting and kayaking. For colder months, enjoy the Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours, or hiking at nearby Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.

Bryson City is less than fifteen minutes away and offers several entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including a scenic drive down the “Road to Nowhere” where you can view Fontana Lake in the distance or enjoy a hike through the tunnel at the end of the “Road to Nowhere”. Deep Creek is also at the Bryson City Entrance and has water tubing in warmer months, and hiking to waterfalls year round. The closest grocery stores to Smoky View Cabin are in Bryson City. Bryson City is also home to the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad offering rides through the Smoky Mountains for all ages to enjoy.

Cherokee is less than half an hour away and has museums, many Native American themed shops, the closest movie theater, and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino with restaurants, gambling, concerts, and more.

“Even as I write in this book I cannot believe how fast our week at “the cabin” went. We enjoyed your beach the most! It was such a treat to swim without weeds! The boys got skunked fishing but put 100% effort into trying. The girls relaxed. Whew, what a luxury!

The home is 4000 square feet featuring three levels with tamarack wood ceilings and Birdseye maple floors. The beds are log and the furnishings indigenous to lake country. There are three levels, two have full walls of glass with patio doors out to the decks that span the length of the home.

There are two full kitchens, two porches – one open the other three season with three walls of windows. The main level has a cathedral ceiling open to log loft, great room, bath, kitchen, two eating areas with seating for twenty, butlers pantry with cabinets, serving counter and compactor, bedroom and beautiful three season porch.

The upper loft has two bedrooms, kids cubbie with a single bed and a flip bed plus toys etc., office, family room and bath with whirlpool tub.

The lower level has two bedrooms, kitchen, family room, pool table, bathroom, laundry, another kids cubbie with toys and a hot tub on the deck.

Ponto is one of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota and we have the best beach! Great for kids, shallow half way to the end of dock where it’s deep enough for boats.
